Venue: Sangsurya Retreat Centre - Byron Bay

Understanding the Buddha's teachings of liberation

The retreat will focus on direct experiential understanding and insights through mindfulness meditation practice in the four postures, sitting, walking, standing and reclining. There will be periods of instruction, dharma talks, inquiry and guided meditations as well as opportunities for interviews with the teachers.

All meditation postures will be welcomed (sitting, standing, lying and movement). We will explore how to use Buddhist mindfulness meditation to develop a steady and open heart.

Patrick and Emma team up to offer this weekend of mindfulness. Patrick has over 30 years of teaching experience and teaches retreats throughout Australia and overseas. Emma is a regular teacher at Kuan Yin who emphasises flexibility and openness in the practice. Together they bring a keen interest in the early teachings of the Buddha and a passion for fostering independence in one’s practice.

The benefits of mindfulness are widely known, but mindfulness comes from ancient Buddhist teachings that offer much more than simple calming techniques: a wholistic system of ethics and mind training much needed in today’s world. Over 6 evenings this course explores the foundations of vipassana (insight) meditation, with a focus on practical meditation techniques, overcoming obstacles, & developing a steady mind and heart. Suitable for beginners and those wanting to deepen their connection to the Dharma
